Traditional residence halls
Shared-bath halls with dense bed counts and heavy lounge use — bulk headend distribution is normally the lowest cost per bed.
Apartment-style campus housing
Unit-based layouts closer to multifamily. Distribution follows the unit, with common-area displays licensed separately.
Purpose-built off-campus housing
Privately operated buildings marketing TV as an amenity, where the property owns the system and the resident experience.

Student housing questions
Can a residence hall run on residential DIRECTV accounts?
No. Dormitories and purpose-built student housing are commercial properties, and lounges, study rooms and fitness areas are public-view spaces. The building has to be on commercial DIRECTV programming that is licensed for that use, which is what we set up as an Authorized DIRECTV for Business Dealer.
What does bulk TV for student housing cost?
There are two numbers: the one-time system — headend, distribution, labor — and the recurring commercial programming, generally priced per bed or per unit against the package tier you pick. We quote both line by line after a survey rather than publishing a flat rate, because bed count, building layout and existing cabling drive the total.
Can the work be done between academic terms?
That is the normal plan. Most installs and cutovers are scheduled into the summer turn or a break period, phased building by building, with every outlet tested before that section is released back to housing operations.
Do we have to rewire the halls?
Usually not. Most residence halls already have coax risers that can carry a bulk headend signal. The survey tests what is there and the proposal only includes cabling that genuinely has to be replaced.
What about lounges, study rooms and game rooms?
Those are public-view areas and need commercially licensed feeds. We include them in the design alongside the in-room outlets so the whole property is covered by one properly licensed system.
Who do we call when something goes wrong mid-semester?
Your named account manager. Support starts with remote diagnostics and moves to on-site dispatch under the response terms in your service plan.
